My Story

09/18/2020

My boy crossed the rainbow bridge last evening. He was old and having a lot of medical issues. It was a difficult decision but it was best for him.

"During the time that our website was being rebuilt, Jacob came into rescue and was fostered in NY.  He was lucky enough to find his forever family during that time.  Good luck Jacob.  Have a wonderful life."

Jacob was a great addition to our family. We have a 12.5 year old boxer that just likes to lie around and relax all day. The kids truly enjoy the energy and personality Jacob has. He plays with the kids and snuggles with them when they are relaxing or sleeping. Jacob is a pleasure to have and we look forward to many years with him.

Jacob is doing great. He is so sweet and gentle. He has been sleeping with me in bed and then doing his rounds in the kids beds throughout the night. No night accidents what so ever. Once he is settled in for the night, that is it. He is a snuggle bug for sure.

He is a little aggressive at the windows when he sees someone walking in the neighborhood. We are working on that. I have been leaving him roam the house with no access to rooms where the windows are in front of the house to avoid him barking and jumping up on the windows when he sees people. He also pees a bit when we get home since he is so excited. With time and a little training I am sure he will be fine.

He listens well, sits, lays down and gives his paw when asked to do so. He is not a chewer and sticks to playing with his toys and the kids.

He gets along well with my older boxer. My old guy is actually playing catch and chewing bones again which he hasn't done for a while. They got along immediately with no problems. I think Cody is glad he has a budy. Sometimes he just looks at Jacob with that look of "What is wrong with you?"

It is nice to have a younger dog in the family again. The kids cannot get enough of him and he tolerates them with no problems. The kids always want them where they are. I have heard "Jacob" a million times in my house since I got him. He is getting a lot of attention.

It took me a long time to decide to bring another boxer into our home considering Cody's age, but I am glad I made the decision. Jacob is a great dog. With a little obedience training we can work on the barking at the windows and walking on a leash. He drags me when we walk...lol!

My very first Foster "Jacob" went to his forever home on Monday! Jacob literally touched our hearts the second he walked into our home:) I swear I lucked out with one of the most loving Boxers I have ever met! He dealt with my "Nala" being so jealous and pushing him away from me when he would get near, and having her constantly annoy him to play with her, and never ever once got angry.
My 14 year old son was begging to keep Jacob from day one! Our hearts were broken when he left, I didn't realize this was going to be so heartbreaking:( I do know we did a wonderful thing saving him though. A special thanks to everyone involved in his transport, and to Patricia and Dee for answering my many questions that first few days, and for helping me via email with my meltdown Monday morning.
Here a a couple pictures of Jacob in his forever home:)(red collar) I will mention that his forever home happens to be about 15 min. From us so we will get to see him:):):)
Fostering Jacob was an absolute pleasure, and remarkable experience all around!!
