My Story

We were super lucky to have been approved for Jenkins back in 2012 (& we still thank Patricia, Dee & Teresa for all they did to make this happen!!).  Since no one knew much about him, we celebrate his birthday on his “gotcha” day every year – Oct 16th.  We believe he will be 9 this year.  He’s a big, beautiful boy who’s gotten quite the sugar-face the past couple of years.  He is super snuggly and happy, though he has been slowing down  due to age and arthritis (hip and back) which makes us sad to see (he is otherwise in good health).  He spends most of his time snuggling with his 2 sisters (Lexi & Bunny, both 5 y/o), but loves mom & dad the most - he’s the 1st one in bed with us at night and the 1st one to greet us at the door (always with a toy!)  Jenkins enjoys playing “laser tag” every night - romping & trying to catch the light, and in the summer he enjoys catching the water from the sprinklers or hose.  And since dad is a hunter, he gets spoiled with his favorite for several days every month:  a venison feast!!

Thank you for all the efforts NLBR does every day to rescue boxers in need, fulfill the dreams of adoptees, and provide ongoing support!  All the best!

Everything is going perfectly with Jenkins.  We just had a vet check and he is in perfect health and weight.  We have had him almost two years now and he absolutely loves his home and his girlfriend, Monkey.  Jenkins (& Monkey) sleep with us every night (though they have several dog beds, the “big bed” is much more comfy!).  Though he is really a daddy’s boy, one of his favorite things to do is to snuggle with mommy for a few minutes when I get up in the morning.  His morning ritual also includes kissing Monkey all over her face and ears too.  He didn’t really know how to “snuggle” when we got him but, we have turned him into a big love bug.

Jenkins and Monkey have full roam of the house but Jenks is always so full of energy.  So it’s very lucky Daddy comes home at lunchtime every day and Jenkins gets to go outside midday to stretch his legs.  He likes to watch the wildlife outside the window and sometimes gets to chase them which include bunnies, squirrels and birds, though thankfully he is not fast enough to catch one.  Another favorite of Jenks’ is to chase the red laser beam around the yard at dusk.  I swear this dog knows how to tell time as he reminds us when it’s time to go outside!  With the warmer weather here, we keep a baby pool filled so Jenkins can cool off after a good run.  He just jumps in and flops right down – so cute!

Jenkins is our first rescue and we have gotten so much love and entertainment from him.  We love him to pieces and we know he adores us too.  We have truly been blessed with Jenkins.  My husband and I have agreed that we will always rescue from here on out as it has been such a fulfilling and heartwarming experience for both the canines and the humans in our family!!

enkins has fit into our home and lifestyle perfectly!  He absolutely adores his big boxer sister (Monkey) and is certainly living the life of riley!  He gets ample play time, walks nearly every day, has run of the house and yard and gets lots of snuggling.  Jenkins' personality has really come out and we enjoy watching his funny traits that are unique to him.  He loves "talking" to us when we come home from work; when he wakes in the morning he yawns out loud to make sure we're ALL up and then he proceeds to clean his boxer sister's entire head.  When he stretches, he likes to position himself over his sister and then flop down on top of her.  Jenkins has been a joy and a blessing to bring into our home and we love him to death.  He has shown us how awesome rescue is for everyone involved and we will ALWAYS rescue from here on out!

Jenkins is a very active boy who loves to play.  He really likes it when it rains.  He will stay outside and dig in the mud, covered with mud happy as can be.  He has more mud on him then an entire football team in the playoffs.  When you have multiple kids (4 legged) all you can do is laugh and put him in the cage to dry off when he's finished.  I guess his mud bath is cheaper than taking him out to get pampered!  You can't tell by his pictures but Jenkins has the most beautiful red tone to him.  He is such a handsome boy!  Jenkins loves to play but also has his down time when he loves affection.  There is soooo much I can say about Jenkins.  He's great with the other dogs, does well with the cats and is just a great boy all around.  So if you’re thinking about Jenkins, I would get my application in because I know he won't be around long and you'll be sorry he got away.

Jenkins is doing great.  He has meet all the dogs and is doing well. He loves, loves, loves to play with his buddies.  Jenkins has a lot of energy and is like the energizer bunny.  He'll play all day if you let him.  Jenkins also has a very gentle and sweet side.  He will come and place his head on my lap and I'll rub his head and he just loves it.  You can see in his eyes he is a very gentle dog.  Jenkins went with Piper to the L'Oreal event.  They both went into the big pool and were wet all over.  This was the deepest water he's been in.  He did very well and went in a few times.  I was so proud of my baby, you couldn't tell me I didn't have the best babies there!  I was so excited to see them in the water that deep.  I knew Jenkins liked to play in the pool with my guy but for him to go up the stairs and into the pool on his own - I was such a proud mom!  Jenkins is a great dog and loves attention.  So if you can meet Jenkins needs, then please fill out your application.  Any family would be very lucky to have him as a member of your family.

I picked up this beautiful boy on Monday and as of yesterday, Jenkins has met all of my crew and is doing well.  Jenkins does well around children, does well with cats and gets along well with other dogs.  He's just a well-rounded young pup who is very energetic and needs companionship to work out all his energy.  He will pick up his toy and run around the yard or the house with it and looks so cute.  Jenkins did well meeting the neighbor’s kids and didn't want them to leave.  Jenkins is very loving and deserves someone who can give him lots of attention and play time.  Because he is young and like all pups, he will need some guidance as he matures.  So far Jenkins can sit, give paw and lie down on command.  He is very curious and is always looking around checking things out, so like most pups you must watch what you leave around that he may be able to reach. Jenkins has just a tiny thin white line from his nose to about up between his eyes.  He has a white chest with white on all four paws.  Jenkins was a hit at the vet and they have estimated his age to be 10 months old.  Jenkins has long beautiful legs and will be a nice size boxer when he finishes growing.  When you look at Jenkins you can see his gentle soul and anyone would be very lucky to have him as a family member.  So if you are active and have time to play with Jenkins, have children for him to play with and other four legged family members for him to play with on a daily basis then Jenkins may be a fit for your family.  Please remember Jenkins is young and needs someone who is able so spend time with him to teach and give him all the play time he deserves.  If you think Jenkins will fit your life style, please submit your application for us to consider the best home for Jenkins.  Our boxer babies deserve only the best, so please be sure you can give Jenkins 110%.  My crew, Jenkins and I will happily look over your application and hopefully you will get a four paw approval :) We will post pictures shortly.
PS - I just found out that Jenkins likes to play in our large baby pool with one of my boys who is boxer/part seal.  So Jenkins is putting in a request that if you don't have a pool for him to play in with his other siblings (both 2 & 4 legged) that he would like to have a large baby pool to cool off in and make you laugh.  I also didn't tell you along with his wonderful personality he has great teeth.  For all you boxer lovers, you know this isn't always the case :)
