My Story

Jeter is 4 years one month and is doing fine.  We purchased a home in Florida and now he and our other Boxer Sienna who will be 10 travel by car with us. They love it there. More room to run and play. He's a very happy dog and is much loved.

Things are going great with Jeter.  He is just as energentic now at 2 1/2 years old as he was when he was a puppy.  He loves Sienna our 8 1/2 year old Boxer and keeps her playful and youthful.  They both loved playing in the snow this past winter and we had lots of it in New York.  They also enjoy taking long walks on the boardwalk near our house when the weather is nice. There are plenty of other dogs for them to meet and greet there and he enjoys that too.

Jeter is a beautiful highly intelligent Boxer/Mastiff mix that has brought a lot of joy and fun to our entire family especially our Boxer Sienna who will be 7 on 3/17/13.

Hi, I wanted to send you some photos and an update on Riley now known as Jeter for your website.  We adopted him on 4/14.  He gets along great with Sienna our 6-year-old Boxer.  They play together all day.  Jeter even likes our 4 cats.  He is so loving and playful.  He likes to give kisses and snuggle.  He is growing so fast.  When we adopted him he was about 17 pounds, he is now 25 pounds.  He is very intelligent and alert.  He learned to climb our spiral staircase in one day.  He likes to sit at the top and look at the neighbor’s dog.  We love him so much and will be forever grateful to New Life boxer Rescue for giving us the privilege to be his forever family.

Riley is a very happy go lucky boy who is a little shy around strangers but warms up really quick when "lovin" and snuggles are involved...he can't resist.  He is somewhat reserved, will let his sister run over to people first and will hang back by me until he feels up to saying "hello".  Afterwards he will roll and tumble with his sister Erin, to show off to everyone, nipping her ears, running and playing!  They are both such happy puppies!

I have set up an Xpen (I call it the play pen!) in my kitchen…it has a swinging door which I leave partially ajar.  When I am in the kitchen and Riley is playing he has learned to open the door of the playpen with his nose and goes inside…this is a clue to me that he needs to go out and nine times out of 10 that is exactly what he needs to do!  Other times Riley and Erin run and jump the 4 inch part of the pen...jumping to and fro, in and out of the pen after each other...wish I had a video!

Riley is very smart and more patient than his sister.  As soon as I begin making their breakfast or dinner, Riley sits patiently while his sister is jumping around like a jumping bean.  They both have to settle down and sit nicely before I will serve them their food.  They have also learned to sit with a hand signal and wait to get a treat...not to jump all over each other trying to get it!  He is very smart and learning quickly!  He is an awesome pup...he is on a schedule and very easy to take care of....perfect in his crate and crate is always dry...no accidents there!  I am sure he will not be around long!  Stay tuned for more updates and pictures too!

Riley has been with us for about a day and is still settling in.  He and his 3 siblings came from the tornado area of West Virginia and he is being fostered with Erin, his sister.  He is the only fawn pup of the bunch...and the chubbiest!  They are all absolutely adorable!  He is a great eater and loves his water.  He has met my male Leroy and jumped up to nip his lip!  Leroy, turned and ran but then came back, took his paw and held Riley down as if to say "wait a minute here, I'm bigger than you!"  Both my dogs and the two pups are getting along great.  Stay tuned for the next update...SOON!  They grow so fast!
