My Story

06/05/2017

I got Maxine on May 27, 2017 and it was a busy Memorial Day weekend so I was a little unsure of how she was going to do. When I first went to pick her up, she was definitely a little scared and jumped at every loud noise.   But she was just in a really long car ride so what did I expect.

She has been with me for now eight days and I must say that she is an amazing and sweet dog. Her personality emerges a little bit more every day but with such a hectic week, she has adapted so well. I had barbecues at my house and she got along really well with my eight-year-old nephew and the younger teenage girls. I also have another dog and three cats at my house. She was very curious about the cats but unfortunately, I have one cat that is not the nicest so Maxine has learned to just basically stay away and doesn't bother them.

She wags her whole backside when she is excited and loves hugs and kisses.  She likes to nudge my hands so much until I will pet her. She's a great cuddler! She knows the basic commands of sit and will sit for a treat.

She went to the dog groomer yesterday and I was told that she did really well. She did not give the groomer a hard time and let her ears get cleaned and nails get trimmed.

I have only taken her for a few walks and noticed that she does get a little nervous and will walk slowly. Some of the streets we go on are busy and there's a lot of activity, cars, and noise.  Patience is a virtue and I have no doubt  that in time that she will adapt and become more comfortable with walks.

As I've said before, she came into my life during a busy and hectic week but she has done amazing. Everyone that meets her, loves her. She might bark at someone when she first sees them but quickly will start wagging her tail once you start petting her head . The only thing that she wants and requires is a lot of love and hugs.
